I'm learning new things everyday...

So there are heterosexual people, homosexual people, bisexual people... And today I've learned about autosexual people (...) in an interview with director John Waters, who talks about this man who fell in love with himself and married... himself at the age of 30, to divorce himself ten years later. Apparently, this is no joke. And it happened in Uh-merica...

La fin des Cahiers

I found the last issue of Les Cahiers du Cinéma - this mythical film publication has been bought by a group of businessmen and producers who want to turn it into a 'chic and reader-pleasing' mag that would be more focused on French cinema, something which is at the opposite end of what the magazine has stood for since its first issue in the 1950's. As written in the March editorial:
"The Cahiers du Cinéma have always disregarded chic and fake. Their motto and sanity is their virulence, when you know how fiercelessly they defend ideas, passions and convictions. The 'Cahiers du Cinéma' have always been open to the world. The staff has been paying even more attention to French cinema for the past 11 years, but it is problably not the 'right kind' of French cinema that they have supported."
And the last (and quite alarming) point is that les Cahiers du Cinéma will be approached as a brand and thus compelled to "create events around brands".
Now the whole staff have quit. There will be one more issue written and edited by them - for the month of April, then the chapter will be closed. Truly sad. The thought for instance of the name of Rothschild linked to Les Cahiers is as preposterous as having Saudi Arabia having a key role in the at the UN Human Rights panel. Preposterous, but it happened...

China signals the end of dogmeat consumption.
Very good.
This photo was taken in Paris, circa early 20th century....
The banner reads: "Grand opening of the first dog butcher in Paris".
Food for thought.
Well... let's have fruits for thought.

Speaking of dog, I had this short dream last night - during the couple of hours when I managed to find some sleep, where a fluffly dog that had deliberately been left outside by its owner for days, was eventually allowed inside. The poor thing was weakly crying of starvation and came to my arms. It felt so great to embrace the dog. I felt the same love for it as I do for Eastwood, my brother's canine companion.
A nice change from the usual recent dreams, or shall I call them nightmares, where I live in a city under siege during WWII, hide from a serial killer, am about to be executed or flee from a concentration camp...
Go figure...

Dream of a dog

I had this short dream last night - during the couple of hours when I managed to find some sleep, where a fluffly dog that had deliberately been left outside by its owner for days, was eventually allowed inside our home. Woofie warmth.

Even though our body isn't moving and our lives are on stand-still, our mind and creativity are constantly in motion. Today, during a little video chat, my dear friend Bévinda sang me the melody of a new song she has written for my album Personal Fictions. We started thinking about it a few weeks ago, when I came to her flat and shared ideas about a possible song together. She took notes, then told me a few days later that she had decided to follow another direction. The next text is simple but very poetic. A love song... I don't have too many of those, so why not...
"The first image that came to me was when I saw the umbrella you forgot at my place", she told me.

A song about William... (for William?) in French and Portuguese. Can't wait to start working on the music. I'm already starting to hear some rhythms and sounds...

Going out to the supamahkit.
Sunshine and the warmth of spring time.
A Frenchman near a newspaper stand saw me. "Ahhh.... Thank you, you Chinese people.... Thank you for all this!!!"

A very sunny day indeed.
